Nottinghamshire Community Energy - Community Benefit Society

Nottinghamshire Community Energy (NCE) is a Community Benefit Society
set up in October 2015 by Mongoose Energy and NCE Board  to deliver
community-owned renewable energy, energy efficiency and energy supply
projects to benefit the local community.

NCE's first project is a new 5MW solar farm at Langar Lane, Colston Bassett. This project has been developed by OPDE and has planning permission and a grid connection secured.

It is hoped it will be operational by summer 2016.

For this development to come to fruition over £850,000 was raised by local
investors - each person that invested is now a member of Nottinghamshire
Community Energy and will receive an incredible 7% on their investment.

The remaining funds were sourced from Triodos bank, Nottinghamshire County Council and Nottingham Energy Partnership.

Stats about this £5.7 million green energy development

It is made up of 20,000 solar panels that will feed electricity into the grid for 25 years
Generates enough clean energy to power 1,150 homes
It will save an estimated 2,028 tonnes of carbon dioxide every year
It will raise a predicted £1.8 million for local community projects, such as those
involving wildlife conservation and carbon reduction
