FREE Energy Switching sessions for Nottinghamshire’s community groups

FREE Energy Switching sessions for Nottinghamshire’s community groups

28 October 2014 News from NEP

Over the next 5 months we will be visiting community and resident groups across Nottingham
and Nottinghamshire to help them find a better deal for their energy.  With winter approaching
and the need to put the heating on, it begs the question, why pay more than you need to for your energy?

Who is funding this project?

This follows a successful bid to the Department of Energy and Climate Change’s
“Big Energy Saving Network”
.  We are one of 160 ‘Champions’ in the UK that will deliver simple,
effective, targeted advice to vulnerable energy consumers such as the elderly, disabled people and
low income families.
This fund will allow us to reach over 200 vulnerable households and train over 40  front line staff.

Tell me more about these sessions

Our main focus is to raise awareness as to how easy it is to switch and to help people understand
their energy bill - which is a useful skill in itself.  Ofgem are putting pressure on energy companies
to reduce the switching process time, so by the end of December it should take just 3 days, a huge improvement from 4 to 6 weeks!
We will also be raising awareness of the government’s £140 Warm Home Discount and signing residents up for free and subsidised loft insulation, cavity wall insulation and solid wall insulation.
Miranda Cumberbatch, NEP’s Affordable Warmth Manager said “We are pleased to be delivering
these focused sessions to people struggling with their energy bills. With winter approaching
now is the time to switch - it’s amazing how much you can save if you have never switched,
or not switched insome time.  The average dual fuel saving is around £230.  The tool we use
is 100% impartial and is backed by Ofgem”.

We need you!

NEP welcomes community and resident groups to come forward who would benefit from this sort
of advice session; there is absolutely no obligation to switch, we are simply providing the
information to encourage individuals to take action.
