Historic estate looks to Rural Energy
14 February 2012 Insider
Leicestershire-based Rural Energy has teamed up with an historic Yorkshire estate to help it to set up a biomass operation.
The main house and office buildings on the 7,000-acre Barningham Park Estate in North Yorkshire, famous for its grouse moor, are now being heated by the technology.
The estate is using wood from its land to provide its fuel needs with a Herz Firematic three-phase 150kW boiler.
Working with Rural Energy, a Myriad CEG company based in Melton Mowbray, Barningham has now embarked on a tree planting program, setting up a commercial operation to supply wood chip biomass boilers in the region. The fuel delivery business is part of the estate's future commercial plans.
Ed Milbank, who manages the family estate near Richmond, said: "The estate's woodland has now become a big asset for us, especially as oil prices are forecast to continue rising and demand for timber is growing.
