Scottish & Southern Energy raises fuel bills by 18pc
21 July 2011, The Telegraph
Scottish & Southern Energy has become the third of the big six fuel providers to raise prices.
Scottish and Southern Energy will increase prices for household electricity by 11pc (average) and household gas by 18pc on September 14.
Some 5.2m consumers will be affected.
The energy provider said that based on the average dual fuel bill, prices will rise to £1,265, from £1,094 – an increase of £171.
Mike O’Connor, chief executive of Consumer Focus, said: "This increase heaps more pressure onto already cash-strapped consumers and will tip many thousands more people into fuel poverty."
But the energy group blamed three reasons for the price hike.
