Loft insulation
Loft insulation helps to create an even temperature in your home keeping your home warmer in winter and cooler in summer. Loft insulation keeps heat in like a blanket trapping heat rising from rooms below.
The recommended minimum depth of insulation is 270mm (about 12 inches), any less, and your expensively bought heat will leak out, costing you money and making your home colder.
If your loft has not been insulated in the last 10 years, the chances are you could benefit from more loft insulation.
How It Works
Loft Insulation is laid between the joists and may then be applied in a second layer across the joists to prevent the cold bridge which is created by the ceiling plaster board and each of the joists.
You can easily check if your home is up to the latest regulations by lifting the loft hatch and measuring the distance between the top of the insulation and the board below.

Solid Wall Insulation
Solid wall insualtion is generally suitable for properties built before the 1930s. Solid walls are made up of ‘solid brick’, therefore do not have a gap to fill with insulation, unlike ‘cavity’ walls. These walls are insulated in a different way to stop heat escape.

Cavity Wall Insulation
Insulating cavity walls is one of the most effective energy saving measures you can carry out in the home, helping to reduce your heat loss through the walls by up to 60%.
