MOZES The Meadows Ozone Community Energy Company

NEP were commissioned to work with the Meadows community as sustainable energy consultants to design and develop a plan for a low carbon neighbourhood; this work lead to the development of the MOZES community energy company.

The programmes developed, and in some cases funded, by NEP included;

  • A community energy champion
  • An interest free loans programme
  • An energy advice and guidance service linked to Debt centre providing access to domestic energy grants

NEP applied for funding for the group from the NESTA Big Green Challenge and supported the development of the legal constitution of the community energy company through working with Brodies LLP. NEP assisted the group in identifying and choosing an energy sector partner and in successfully bidding for £600k of investment in solar panels through the Low Carbon Communities Challenge.

Greening Beeston

NEP supported Greening Beeston to access £5,500 of funding from Climate East Midlands to help them identify and develop a renewable energy site in Beeston.

NEP were contracted to support the group in site selection, development and community engagement.

Edwalton Primary School

NEP are supporting Edwalton primary school to find funding for solar electric and solar water heating panels. The school is a 3 times green flag award winning eco-school with a school farm.

Edwalton are the first Primary School in Britain to be awarded with interim accreditation by 'Specialist Schools and Academies Trust' for Rural Dimension - March 2011. They area also Winners of the DCFS Award for Sustainable Schools - East Midlands Region! And were a finalist for the Times Educational Supplement sustainable school of the year award.
