24 January 2011 This is Nottingham
NOTTINGHAM'S online energy calculator goes live today so residents can see how to reduce carbon emissions and energy bills at their homes.
Nottingham City Council has said it is the only system of its kind that uses satellite technology.
At an event at Nottingham Contemporary today, the council is also unveiling its community climate change strategy, which has a neighbourhood-based action plan.
By 2020 the council is aiming for a 26 per cent cut in carbon levels compared to 2005.
The council is also offering a new Low Carbon Grants Scheme, to provide funding of up to £500 for projects that reduce local environmental impacts and carbon emissions.
