Open Homes Tour 2015 - our day in pictures

May 2015 - written by NEP

This May we ran our second Green Open Homes tour following a successful application to
DECC. This event formed part of a national network of retrofit events, with many cities, towns
and villages also putting on these 'show and tell' style sessions.

The Open Homes network is funded by DECC and supported by the Centre for Sustainability (CSE).

We  welcomed an enthusiastic group of local homeowners and enthusiasts aboard our minibus.
The tour showcased archetypes of all ages and structure which have adapted retrofit improvements that either lower their energy bills and/or generate their own energy.  The improvements included solid wall insualtion, small and large scale solar PV, ground source heat pump and biomass.  Managers Phil, Miranda and Darren were hosts for the day and provided attendees with in depth technical information and also informaion about funding.

Many of our visitors were interested in this event as they live in cold, draughty solid brick properties and find it difficult to keep their home warm. This event was designed to show them the type of solutions out there, and more importantly homes that have had the work done that are not so
different from their own.
