PCT Carbon Reduction Project

NEP is working with NHS Nottingham City and NHS Nottinghamshire County to carry out  a ground-breaking Carbon Reduction Project.

Over a two year programme, NEP is assisting both organisations to calculate and then reduce their total carbon footprint, using the following approach:

BASELINE àPRIORITISE àACT

Accross all areas of corporate carbon emissions, including:

  • Buildings
  • Travel and Transport
  • Waste
  • Procurement
  • Staff behaviour

The baseline carbon footprint work and NEP's carbon management expertise are being used to develop a prioritised Carbon Management Action Plan for both Trusts, including strategic and specific practical interventions to inform how the Trusts can reduce their carbon footprint over time.

This work is helping these Trusts take a leading role in the UK health sector in mitigating their climate change impacts, hence also limiting the Trusts vulnerability to rising energy and carbon costs.

NEP is working closely with both Trusts throughout 2009 and 2010 to support the implementation of the Project's recommendations.
